Experience Uganda makes a difference! In our March 2008 trip to Uganda our group of 30 visitors travelled to the heart of a small village in Tororo called Iyoriang for a day trip. They had the opportunity to experience rural life for a day, have lunch freshly prepared by the villagers, and watch cultural dances and performances. After our trip we raised a small amount of money which allowed the village to officially open a school.

Since then Iyoriang Development School has been established by Kshitij Gheewala who has taken up the challenge of growing and sustaining the school. It now offers quality education to the children of the village with a unique curriculum.

Why Iyoriang Development School?

The objective of the school is to develop the young adults with technical skills like building and concrete practice, carpentry and joinery, farming skills. There are currently 40 students, 5 teachers and a cook in the school.

The school is not simply to provide students with the tools to gain employment, the school is intended to provide students the framework to tap into their inner power and bring themselves closer to who they are at their very best. The school will nurture, fully self expressed, happy, confident, loving and rounded human beings. Alongside the basic requirements of education – the school aims to provide new topics that help to develop lifet skills such as Yoga, parenting skills, relationship skills, civic responsibilities and more.

Iyoriang Development School is registered an NGO by the Government of Uganda under the Auro Education.
